Vasilisa and the Saga of Baba Yaga is an original work that Elkhanah Pulitzer developed with Sneaky Pete Ensemble with music designed by Chad Owens performed by an original jazz trio scored by Eli Crews. Through puppeteers, the ensemble tells the classic Russian fairy tale and coming-of-age story.
Vasilisa the Beautiful is a Russian fairy tale about a girl who escapes her wicked stepmother’s abuse by facing the fearsome witch Baba Yaga. Guided by a magical doll from her dying mother, Vasilisa survives impossible tasks in the dark forest, returns with a skull-lantern that destroys her stepfamily, and gains her independence.
